I've lost a couple of CM from the LHS. Don't think I can just make do with new grips :-(

Eish. Are you right-handed???

And you spotted it early - later, I doubt the wheel straps would have still held? Words do not describe what happens to your mind when you see there is a bike less on the back of the car than there should be...

You post your frightening ordeal on the HUB to remind all other members on the purpose and value of those relatively cheap elastic cords with the plastic hooks. Always try and be prepared for the unforseen.......heard stories about plastic bike rack clamps just suddenly failing and leading to an instant bank balance diet.

Glad you caught this early.......and could save your beauty. Time for some seriaaas TLC........!

Hazard of parking in the shade? Nearly done it myself in the past. I hate those thorn trees!

Yup, parked under the shade of one of those London Plane trees on the southern side of the building. What I didn't realise was that there was another one a little further back. Epic fail moment but could have been much worse.

Must be lots of stories from those folks who have those bike racks on their roof racks.

I can just picture it - getting home, tired and not thinking properly, then open the garage door and drive in.... I've done that with canoes on my roof. Or underground parking in a shopping centre....

Which is why I've never bought one of those roof racks before - because I know that's the first thing I'll do.

Last week a friend was transporting 30 mtb's from Pta to Wildernes all boxed for a mtb tour starting in Wildernes.

3 came off without him knowing it .

They were picked up by 2 guys in a bakkie and taken to the Police in Hanover . One of the boxes had a tel nr written on it . The Police phoned the owner who phoned me who had the nr of the driver .

I phoned the driver who turned back and collected all 3 bikes .

One had minimal damage .

Ouch!

Imagine arriving at a race like that! Gutted . . .

It was coming home from a race. Hardest part was trying to find a new XTR lever. Coolheat didn't have any stock at the time. (Still think they don't have stock)
