Hi to every body.

I'm looking at getting slicks for my 29R for when i do some tarmac riding.

Are there any body who uses slicks on they're MTB's, and would you

recommend it?

I enjoy doing roadwork and just have a MTB at this stage.

Many many thanx in advance for any responses. :D

Depends what mtb tyre .I was pretty fast on Crossmarks at 3bar .If you have a mtb tyre with a central ridge you can pump them hard and they almost run like slicks .

I suppose on longer distances one would realy feel and see the difference with the slicks.

For instance, doing the 94.7 with your MTB

I am also planning on fitting slicks on my mtb for the Argus, will need every advantadge I can get as my riding partners will be on 29ers and I'll be on my 26er.

Rode Amashova with slicks last year, going to use my normal tubeless setup this year running at 3 bar. Found my slicks with tubes heavier than the tubeless so would be interesting to see difference this year. Slicks on a mountain bike just do not look right.

25c road tyres??

Yes, on a 29er rim they work perfectly. I fitted 23c gatorskins to my dad's bike for the Argus and it worked very good, but i would recommend the 25c.

I was considering putting on slicks for the 94.7 main race I'm doing with my wife.

However, it seems like such a waste to spend hundreds of R's on slicks for both bikes, for only one race. Then you'll also have to run tubes and be prepared for possible punctures/flats.

I'll rather run my current MTB tubeless setup, not worry about flats and save alot of cash in the process.

However, if you ride on the road often (which I don't), it might not be a bad investment to get some slicks.

Oh, and slicks on a trail bike looks super ***!

After riding Amashova with normal tyres, I can say that slicks are the way to go. Even taking the wind into account my time was quite a bit slower this year than last (where I used slicks) .
