Now that is a mystery....Don't make your customers hunt Eldron.

How would these compare to the wheels you built with the Chris King hubs?

Turned into a few more upgrades than I intended... had to get a new set of calipers to fit the 25mm rims but man it was worth it... cant believe how the wheels transform the look of my bike.

Why did you have to change the calipers? Couldn't you just adjust the caliper to open wider? That's what I do on mine when I fit my 25mm race wheels.

I've never ridden Citec, still waiting for a demo set to turn up at my warehouse....

I would say the Citec would have nicer rims than the generic Chinese rim but nothing beats the CK hubs. So hard to say.  But my wheels are as true and straight as the day they were built. And ultimately that's what we want from a wheel.

And how many Mandela trade credits are required?

So Jay after 3.5 month of use, what is your updated view of these wheels?

I too am looking for a racing set to upgrade my Trek and use the Bontrager's as my training wheels.

Havent had the chance to do too many races on them starting out the year... been a busy time with wedding plans but the few rides I did they really were awesome and super comfortable. One race I did do was Berge en Dale and they climbed so nicely going up the start, there was a split in the group that I got stuck behind and it was real easy to just pick up my cadence and bridge across...

Probably the biggest difference for me personally has been the ease of climbing with lighter wheels, its a lot easier to accelerate going uphill when you need to and just over all easier to hold a good steady cadence and pace.

BUT I now have a new bike to go with the wheels

The calipers that were on my bike at the time wouldn't open wide enough... think they were a cheap replacement from the previous owner.

Hi Guys,

Seen as i am always on a budget i was hoping for some 1st hand experience input here.

I am considering instead of upgrading my wheel to rather upgrade the hubs.

I have Aluminium Bontrager Rims at the moment, but the rolling resistance i feel aint the best as the front wheel can only roll for a max of 49sec before coming to a complete stop, When the wheel is fully suspended in the air. I am not a weight wheenie so that doesn't bother me to much. Then again there is the cool look factor of a new set of wheels.

Then i saw Evo Bikes has a promo on the AC Victory Wheels for R4K brand new

http://www.evobikes.co.za/wheels/wheelsets-road/american-classic-victory-30-tubeless-clincher-wheelset.html

Given that my entire budget is slighty more than this which would you guys opt for?

Are the Victory wheel any better than i already have?

Weighing in at 75kg i don't need super strong wheels that are built for people over a 100kg.

Edit: Which hubs would you recommend, Chris King is out of my budget though

Would rather go with the new wheelset if you can afford them... those AC are good wheels and will be significantly better than your Alu bontragers - lighter and more aero with better hubs, you will feel the difference quite easily when rolling along the flats and when the road goes uphill.

If your budget allows also look at the AC Aero 420 - http://www.evobikes.co.za/wheels/wheelsets-road/american-classic-420-aero-3-wheelset.html

My choice was between these and the 50mm Concept carbons i ended up going with. Still have the aero 420's on my list for when the time comes but i do also love the deep sections.
