There is no

how does this compare to the other races out there i.e. sani, three towers, pioneer etc.? have heard varying stores of difficulty

There is no difficulty except the distance and climbs.

Think Karoo to Coast x 2.5 or 3 and there you have it. OK some of the climbs are Waaaaay longer Never Ender comes to mind and MAC is also a bit of a B1tch.

You cannot compare them. The others are stage races where Trans is a one day affair, albeit a loooong one.

It is not a difficult ride as such (technically) and has about 2600m or so of climbing over the 230km. It does however require a good deal of endurance and mental strength and good team spirit, it can get quite miserable after 18 hours on a bike...

Doing my 6th this year. Velouria has done all of them, do yourself a favour and read his blogs (although he ride on the sharp end of the field and doesn't know what it is like to spend more that 9-10 hours on the bike  :whistling: )

Like hboli4 said, you can't really compare it to a stage race or even the K2C. The long distance endurance stuff requires something completely different.

Just like any form of cycling some people just find it easier than others (only way you will know is by doing it!)

Personally I suck a little with the long distance stuff even when fit, quite a few people whose arses I'll kick on shorter races come cruising by me once we pass the 150km mark...

1st one... Entered, paid (EFT). No confirmation yet, but I trust it'll be a day or two for the EFT refno's to be matched to team entries before we get confirmation from officialdom that we're suckers for punishment.

Interesting mix of excitement and that what-thaaa...-did-I-get-myself-into-now in the stomach. Think I'll need a beer for that.

Done it twice.....

both in 2 man team.....

both of them finished solo......

NOW - 2 Man team again for 2015...

signed and sealed for no.3!....

hoping third time lucky....and finish as a team!......

(But maybe I am destined to be known as the solo guy!)...

But lets see; it would be good though to finish with brother in arms - ........
