I heard some agreement with the waterpoint people could not be reached and only Apple Juice stands will be at 42km and 93km marks.

Also sent Wessel a message to see. Does not mention too much on the website unless you guys have heard otherwise wrt to food.

Must we carry money to pay for the apple juice? Is it just like a vending machine on the track?

OK jokes aside, I heard there might be wind, and rocks, the organizers even flew in some rare dust to cover the district road sections.

Did not discuss water tables at all, subject never came up.

Was too busy shaking my head regarding the rest of the info divulged to me.

Wow, the half-marathon was bloody tough, I would definitely not survived the longer distances. Enjoyed it a lot though, interesting 1st half through places I have never ridden before, ridiculous climb up Bloemendal, sweet singletrack and then I cried a little with the last big climb. Hopefully I'll be back fitter next year to tackle one of the longer distances.

Was waiting to hear about this... Skubarra, aren't you normally an A seeded rider?

That was pretty damn awesome. I've still got "winter legs" but the form is coming. Less climbs than I thought - mostly consistent gradient stuff - no Contermans mast climb and not dorsburg at meerendal. Weather was perfect. All in all a great day out.

Thor, damaged a heart muscle in a race end of last year so I'm on the long road to recovery. Should be fine eventually but for the moment I've scaled down considerably on the training.

Can recommend the race though, tough but well organised, and the field was spreaded nicely by the time we (or at least I) got to the singletrack - which was my one worry before the race.

Ah, Gees, sorry to hear that, Skubs. I was very nervous to do it precisely for the reasons you mention with the spreading out, and after my wipe out the other day, so good to hear for next year. I'm too gormless on the trails to keep up on the downhills with the fitness level on the uphill! :)
