No you cannot enter on the day and yes Donovan, you need a board. Both of you boys have a place to stay in Jozi if you ever want to come ride the rest of the series in GAuteng!! Now get off here and get on your bike see you in 45 mins.

Hey CleatsnCleavage,

For the National MTB Series unlike the TrailSeeker series we always accommodate people to still enter the Friday and on the day. :)

None...

But some races have temporary numbers... I am not doing the whole series, that is why I am asking the question... The site is not very clear regarding this.. It says "would you like to buy a saseeding number" not "a saseeding number is required if you don't have one you must purchase one"

Thanks cleats and cleavage for answering the question and the offer of accommodation.

We are about to launch another 4 events in the western cape where you can use the permanent boards and currently talks with other timing company to use the board at their events.

SASeeding.co.za is moving into the western cape in a big way this year.

Hey guys,

The event is drawing closer. Big names are entering!

Food Market, Kids play area and the best trails all thrown together!

Update from our side. I spent 6 days in December finalising some things in the Cape.

We have finalised the route, with a small change in contermanskloof which will be finalised early next week when Rob is back from holiday.

The routes are a combination of Meerendal, Bloemendal, Hillcrest, Contermans, Hoogekraal, the Half will not do Hoogekraal & Hillcrest.

So expect routes to be posted then.

105km - 2800m ascent

  70km - 1800m ascent

  40km - 1100m ascent

  20km -   450m ascent

  10km -   100m ascent

Thanks for increasing the half marathons ascent to 1000+ I think this is the norm over this distance.

With regards to SAS seading board system ,this is one of the best systems I've used so thanks for sticking with them.Never a issue when entering and results are available super quick.

Wessel - not to be be a negative Netty but those places you've mentioned are predominantly single track - how are you going to stagger out the field to allow passing?

The Epic prologue at Meerendal was a nightmare when it came to passing slower riders and we were set off 2x2 in intervals!

500 riders is going to be interesting...

I think it's a valid point, the Tygerberg trails are an awesome place to ride but I usually avoid doing races there for that exact reason. Hopefully the field can spread a bit on the farms on the route which are not part of the trail system.

I'm just going out there to enjoy the vibe of doing a "big" race at our local trails so won't be to fussed if I have to wait a bit here and there - but I can see some peeps getting frustrated..

Entered for the race, but the entry fee is quite steep.

R200.00 for the 40km, whereas the Bouckaert Soenen race is only R120.00 for a similar distance.

Don't even wanna know what the fee for the 70 and 110km races is.

Guys,

No need to worry, we've been doing this for 14yrs. We've learnt the hard way early on.

At Meerendal especially we've done it as follows:

20km of dual track before the first single track on the half, marathon, ultra. (Half will climb another 1.7km and 100m ascent before the first single track)

100 rider per batch grouped according to ability.

740m ascent until the first singletrack.

It'll be real nice trust me.
