So SANParks have increased the annual bike permit fee for Table Mountain, Tokai & Silvermine and are now also planning to charge for children under 12. So if I want to walk my dog and cycle with my kids, I need 5 permits at R2000 for the lot. When is this going to stop ? The day permit fee has increased to R60 per entry, I don't really care what's right and wrong here, THIS IS A RIP OFF !

There's an existing thread on this subject titles SANS Parks ...... or something

There's plenty dissatisfaction about this, on the Garden Route too!

Same prices on the Garden Route.

Annual = R595 i think

Day = R60

And then extra if you drive in or buy a Wild Card!

Just another way to tax!

At big red barn or Groenkloof we pay R35 a pop. 3 times a week adds up dramatically. Annual at R595 still sounds reasonable

If you're in a position to buy a permit (i.e. use the place regularly)

When I go to Plett for Xmas, I won't use it enough to warrant a R600 and R300 for 5 outings seems a bit much (that's if my wife doesn't join me).

If I want to take my daughter in the baby seat on the bike along the forestry roads, is that also R60?

I just bought an annual pass which gives access to Groenkloof, Fountains, Rietvlei dam and Quaggaspruit for R770. I have been 12 times so far in the last month to either go run or mtb so thats already R420 at the normal price, well worth it in my opinion. Then again that is Tshwane and not Sanparks.

That was along the lines I was thinking - spongebob, dragon's, stick men and stuff as a signature

SANParks are now charging an extra bicycle tax when visiting Cape Point - on the road - just because!!!  A bit like, if  the city of cape town started charging bike commuters extra.
