Since I am doing the 947 Cycle Challenge I can only assume that I have aged quite considerably in a very short time.

Either way a plank of note, I would say they are selfish since thousands want to ride and they want to do WHAT THEY THINK IS MORE IMPORTANT than thousands of others

So that time of the year when a couple of thousand cyclists inconvenience a couple of million Johannesburg citizens is upon us.

 

It’s not that I feel our roads should be unavailable when events of this nature take place – but the extent and duration of these closures shows a complete disregard for those who have other ideas on how to enjoy a weekend.

Just don't know how we harass the other 10 000+ South Africans with the same opinion. Oh wait we can harass them by going out and riding. It really pisses them off to see fit healthy people enjoying the outdoors and living life.

Years ago before I cycled I lived in Glencairn and on Argus day we were well and truly locked in. The Argus came right past the end of the road I lived in and you basically couldn't go anywhere till at least 1pm.

 

It was actually refreshing to just hang out at home for the day. You make sure you don't have to pop out to the shops and you have a braai and a few beers knowing full well that you can't go anywhere. I don't understand what the problem is.
