The "I hate Specialized" Bandwagon...... what's the deal?

No, innovation is such that you never release more than one or two new items at once, you drip feed the market to wring as much reward as you can from the gullible.

And at the end of the day most of the market, myself definitely included, does not have the skill to gain maximum benefit out of the new innovations.  In fact, average Joe is buying the equivalent of a F1 race car to take the kids to school.  Like the pot bellied accountant pushing his Dogma or Venge up small hills.

You are going off on a tangent to nowhere and taking my point out of context.

RS are doing well with their fork, no issue with that

And Spesh is doing well with brain and other ancillaries, but the haters have an issue with that to the degree that they make wild generalizations and do blanket 'spesh-rider-profiles? I see the logic here...

Nope, it's not about that.

It's about the fact that Specialized had zip and zero input on the RS1.

I was at a Specialized launch in Salt Lake City when a guy from Sram came to show us the new XX cassette.

It was around 2007 if I recall.

It was very interesting listening to the Sram representative explaining how  much R&D they put in to their products, real engineering ideas as opposed to marketing ideas behind something innovative.

The RS1 also does well with that axle, with the lower legs moving up in to the bushings, you have more room for play and flex, that axle helps to eliminate that.

Technology changes and soon all types of standards are to be found.

Spesh have the X12 142 plus, what does that mean in the real world, absolutely nothing ,who cares about a few small millimetres that just complicates things ......

The brain works well, it's incredible .

I received and sold the first ever Epic to hit the S.A. shores (around 2003/4) that bike still comes through my hands from time to time.

The only issue with their brain and brain equipped forks is that you can only do the servicing though them and their head office locally.

As I said earlier, if they outsource the service thereof to more shops, it would be a benefit to the consumer but not to the big S as they would lose their monopoly .

Educate me, are lefties serviced in the bike shop or at Omnico?

It can be serviced at any bike shop where the shop is prepared to buy the tools and send the technician for training .
