going to join this thread late, but isn't the wannabees cycling club basically situated where W2W starts....so being a W2W wannabee could really mean something totally different.

 

i agree with all those who said - who gives a flying f@#$%^ what you're wearing.

I Only  do every second W2W , as that's the one you get a jacket ... I have the bag , don't need another and will be doing the next one as I might get another jacket ... My Black one and my blue one is getting rather thin and frail from all the use ... Ohhh and my Houw hoek tour arm warmers... I LOVE THOSE. even had them on skiing in the Bavarian alps last Christmas.

 

The only reason I did Baviaans was for the jacket ... Sani2Sea .. Nope, they don't have nice jackets.

 

Yes im a poser (I look better on the bike than I can Ride it) .. and if I could afford a spez and the kit I would ... but all the red would clash with my ID9 blue wheels.

 

I want to be one of those 70 year old toppies in the argus that ends up being stone last on a 150K colnago ..

 

does this make me any different form a Range Rover or Porsche driver?

Wear the kit if you have actually done the race! What grinds me is the people who wears Cape Epic kit cause they got on sale at some shop, but doesn't even know what the Epic is....

 

I find it fascinating that we are actually discussing this point.  Why sweat the small stuff boys?

 

I received 4 shirts at W2W, 1 from the race and 3 from the FNB private clients thing.  I've given a shirt to a mate, so be it.

I honestly don't get the point of this thread.  Posers or not.  If you're on a bike and you're trying, good for you.  Just understand when I come up behind you I'll be shouting "TRACK" with a please.
