I still love the GT Peace

Me too, this is my 3rd one!

This is a 26er peace I recently picked up.

Build Specs are:

"old school" 29er wheels: Velocity VXC hoops, Hope pro 2 SS

700 x 38c Spez trigger pros (Setup Tubeless)

Deore crankset

Avid Cable discs

Running 32/18 to dial it in then will go a bit bigger in the gearing.

This will possibly be my C2T ride... we'll see!

Hey gents,

I am going to take my Planet X London road to Hermanus for the December holiday.

I want to take off the commuter tyres and add a tyre with a larger volume.

Tried a 2.05 but no clearance (see photo).

Would a 2 or 1.9 or 1.8 work? Don't want to buy tyres and then they don't work.

Look forward to a helpful response.

Bud what does the Manufacturer say you can run? The frame will have a spec. Run that. I would run 35's on the frame. Good for tar and dirt road.

If you guys are looking for tyres we have some at Sprocket and Jack (JHB). Surly, Vittoria, WTB, MAxxis and Vee options. Just measure the clearance at frame and rim width and i can hopefully help..

Not quite ridable yet.  Few issues but getting there.

(Exactly a week from order)

OK BIG STUFF-UP OF NOTE!

I purchased the wrong size frame.  This is a large and I need a XL.

Still have not ridden the bike so the frame may be in the classifieds soon.

What a balls-up!

What handlebar have you got on there Sepia?

Flipped over Mary bar.  Very comfortable for me but I need to cut the stem somewhat and raise the seat post.

Posted

Sepia what is the reason behind the height of the stem?

The stem is long and uncut.  Thank goodness they supply a long stem.  I need to measure, ride, measure and ride again before I cut it.  You know the saying, measure three times and measure again before cutting once.

Damn, Monark, this large frame seems too small for me.
