BERGE EN DALE CLASSIC

I was thinking about coming to Gauteng (from DBN) for the weekend to do the Berge en Dale Classic.  Can anyone tell me if it is worth it?

Is it better than the 94.7 i.e. more pictureque, better riding experience etc?  Does it have full road closures?  Will there be crazy traffic in and out of the area like the 94.7?

I thought it would be good training for the Argus.

BTW is the Emperors Classic worth doing as well?  Thought I may come in April to have a jol with that race too.

Compared to 94.7: 94.7 is mostly urban. Berg n Dale is mostly rural. There are some stretches of boring flat farmland, but also some nice bits, like the Cradle.

No road closure. No serious traffic problems.

Pure cycling wise I prefer the Berg en Dale to 94.7. Reckon it is a nice route through a large chunk of the cradle and Stone Cradle Mall is a pretty good venue.

No road closures as per previous comments but it is also only about 10% of the size of the 94.7 so not that big a deal

Emperors is largely boring flat farmlands taken at high speed so will not see too much anyway. In my experience the fastest race of the year

IMO, the Ride for Sight (15-Feb) is a better race for the Argus CTCT. Firstly, it's longer than the B&D, and secondly your race time should be fairly close to the CTCT time. The race distance is 116Km, with a few bumps in the middle of the course.

If you're a licensed Vet (30-39, 40-49) or a Junior, then come do the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic (22-Feb) as they will be racing 125Km.
