Ya, there's no point if they aren't at least 25 internal.

its funny how someone somwhere mentioned wider widths, and suddenly, existing stuff was completely faulted, despite there being no personal experience to validate the perspective. 23mm+ has become existential by word of mouth alone.  :cursing:  ^_^

I've been a big Mavic fan for a long time, but I've been very dissapointed with my Mavic Enduro wheel set. They look killer, but the back wheel is weak. I've broken 3 spokes on the back already and with one spoke out they taco properly. I'm not exactly hucking 2m drops either, just the usual stuff at Giba.

Anyone else having problems with theirs ? Maybe I just got a dud set

Decided to go for a complete new Wheelset. Should be getting them built next week, decided on Spank spike 28s on hope pro2 evo hubs. All black to go with my new black bike.

This is true.

But if you have a set of rims that are 21mm wide, whats the point of buying new ones that aren't wider?

I have only used rims wider than 23mm since riding trail bikes and becoming more adventurous. It improves the stiffness of the handling steep, rough trails and gives more confidence in jumps and drops. My old Subrosas never went out of true even after hucking 2m to flat a couple of times.

You mean your old spikes?

Mavic naming system. First number is the hierarchy, second 2 are the width. So the 317 would be entry level, 17mm wide.

Xc would be xc (duh)

Xm is marathon

En is enduro

sorry what i fell asleep

Ya, same. I was clueless until I got a trail bike - then the back tyre started folding over in corners, and then I started reading forums like this...
