My wife rides the Giant Anthem X 29 W which is the womans specific bike before the Liv Lust was launched.

It was the first bike to come out of the Liv stable so it was launched under the Giant banner.

She absolutely loves the bike and wouldn't change it for anything. The 29er wheels are no problem for her to handle whatsoever.

Can I ask, which Rumor v which Lust? Are we comparing like for like? Are they comparative in cost and spec for the relative models?

I recently went through a similar exercise with a friend of mine.

We looked at the Specialized Rumor and Era and the Liv Lust carbon and alu options.

She wanted a 27.5' bike, so the Specialized options were scratched. They didn't seem good value for money either.

The Liv bikes were nice, but she ended up with a small men's alu Anthem 27.5' for R30k because that had better componentry and seemed better value for money.

She is yet to ride it, so don't have her opinion on that.

Friend of mine just got a Spez Rumor 2014, beautiful smoke grey colour not the typical Spez colour. Trail bike but quite light and comes with a good spec and dropper post as standard. Don't know how they stack up on price or which model of Giant you are looking at but I know the Spez is quite steep!

Well, the entry level version of the Rumor with dual suspension is 22k, not too bad I thought...

Exactly! And like I said previously, the bike is specced to suit women's needs. Even the brake levers are brought closer to the bar to suit smaller hands.

A proper ladies' bike needs to be engineered/designed with a female rider in mind - not just be a cheap paintjob "telling" you its a ladies' bike.

Liv Lust... take into account the BB height on trail bikes and suddenly a lot of options disappear. if she has shorter legs a high bb could be a problem depending how agile she is and how often she is gonna need to stop and put a foot out. Some woman want to do this while seated and the a long travel trail bike is a bit high off the ground and if you drop the saddle then you cannot get full extension on the pedals but can reach the ground...

My wife also tried lotsa options and a Liv Lust is perfect in every way for a woman's needs

Low stand over.

Lowish BB - like an anthem.

awesome spec.

We eventually bought an 26er anthem X1 for my wife - problem solved.

I LOVE my Rumour!!!  I am so comfortable riding it on anything.

I came from riding a carbon hardtail and thought I would really struggle on the climbs, but it just cruises.  Know 3 other people with Rumours and they also love their bikes.

I am a big fan of women specific bikes.  With a mens, I always have to change things like stems etc to make it work for me.

If only Specialized made a female version of the Enduro...........

I have never owned a ladies specific bike and cant see myself going the pink route anytime soon.

But then again i am 1.75m tall.

The only thing that I do change is the saddle.
