Golf does not make you drink...its a weak mind and peer pressure that does that.

Try carry your own bag for 18 holes (+/- 10 km's of walking) and see how much weight you put on

Not weak of mind or peer pressure, golf is just not that much fun, I prefer to hit the balls at the driving range, then a person can get thirsty.

With cycling, I am just obsessed by bicycles, any and all. Golf does not have that attraction.

Haha now that is just sick. Rather more and soek ... Née man!

All this talk about balls, sticks and bicycles, makes one thirsty. Moving on to beer, more entertaining, golf is too boring. Or I am too bored.

Ah yes i understand....  you have not YET experienced that perfect 250m+ drive with a perfect draw or fade that results in your ball rolling up to the skirt of the green....

Once you have experienced this you will walk many a km carrying your bag haplessly moering and soeking that next magical moment...

I used to be an avid golfer .I was a low single figure handicap player .I have played the game for 30years now .First thing that killed it for me was slow play, then golf Cart golf courses and estate golf courses, where it seems that some garderner is just waiting for me to tee it up so he can start his garden trimmer or lawnmower .Golf takes to long and i am not going to keep my weight down even if i carry my bag like i prefer doing .I cannot justify the time spent waiting for or watching while others play .2 hours of cycling is 120 minutes of doing what you are there to do .5 hours of golfing is 20 minutes of doing what you are there for and the rest is waiting watching and gaining weight

I'm a single handicap, but hardly play anymore since I started cycling a year or so ago. Gave up my membership this year after 15 years. Still love golf, but cycling is shorter (mostly), allows better family time management, better exercise, shredding single track is great fun etc. etc. etc.

I was never a single figure handicap, best was 17, loved the game until I discovered cycling about 16 months ago. I played my last game in Jan '14 and also gave up my membership. My sons now look forward to us cycling together as apposed to us playing golf together which quite often ended in tears and frustration. I'll play golf again, when, I don't really know, nor do I care.

I was in Oz in 2000 and played at a course in Melbourne, think it was called Waverley CC. I was very surprised/shocked to see plenty guys with golf pull carts attached to small motorbikes making there way around the course. I'm not sure if that will work here.

Maybe one day when i am one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel I'll considering golf, but right now, I would literally rather watch paint dry than go hit a golf ball.

My bike(s) at least get the adrenaline going, and what could make you feel more alive than that.

Golf sure has its frustrations and surely the biggest must be slow play caused by people faffing around instead of getting on and playing, drives me up the wall when people seem to think its their right to spend 5 minutes looking for their ball every time they loose it or taking multiple practice swings (and then still duff the shot anyway...)

Here its very common for ladies to play golf, so the wife and I almost always play together or at the same time, so there is no time management worries as we both on the golf course at the same time.

Oh ja and also the cost.... at least riding your bike is free

I play golf between 3 and 5 times a year.  I enjoy the first 14 holes, but by then I just want it all to be over.  It's just so monotonous and precocious.

Cycling gives better rewards socially and health-wise for the time spent.

I can't wait for developers to start building Cycling Estates with MTB course, BMX track, velodrome etc.
