Just wondering what the thoughts are on doing next years Sani2c on a 1x10?

Currently riding 32T/11-42 and not really using the 42, I am in JHB though, and I have enough in the 32T not to spin out too early except for a few downhills.

Not looking for a podium place!!

My partner did it this year on a 1x10.  He has a good fitness level and is a strong rider.

He did suffer on 2 occasions but only for a short period.....3-10min? where the incline really kicked up.

Apart from that, no issues what so ever.

Would I trade my 2x10 in?  Nah.

I am of the opinion that I'd rather have it and not use it than need it and not have it.  ;)

I did it on a 32t with an 11-36 cassette and it is completely rideable. There were sections where I wish I had more gears but I made it though. The 32t is perfect but if you want a bit more top end, get a 34t and use your 42t on the rear. Kitted.co.za has nw chainrings for cheap so it won't break the bank

Do you think 34/42 would be small enough for the bigger hills or would 32/42 be better and would 32/11 be big enough for the flats/downhill?
