First ride at Tokai tomorrow... Which blue route??

The run is mostly in the area to the left of the gate looking up at the mountain. They do a short section from the top of Vasbyt down to car park, but nothing else in that side if Tokai. If you're riding the ST from Vasbyt down you'll hardly notice the runners.

Hope not, that's out of bounds for runners. Where did you hear bout the run?

Oh, that one.. I don't think they will be on the ST or at least hope not. Prev years have stayed on the jeep track only.

Edit: As Capediver says, all those trails.. Vasbyt and Boulders you can let your hair down but stay sharp for the others. Fairie Garden is green but that bridge seems to claim people if it's wet.

The biggest worry is he has an idiot for a guide :)

I find that Tokais blue trails are currently "dark blue" :whistling:  and that I have to get off and walk one or 2 sections that I used to fly over.

Meant to say that they'll be on the jeep track in that area, not on ST. Did the race two years ago, and they don't do any running off the jeep tracks.

Rather enjoyed my down ride, glad I didn't have to climb any hills, my legs are not playing along today.

Thanks again Marko for being my guide!

Have to say the Vasbyt and My Roots are my two favorite sections.

Thanks all.

Yeah, didn't spot one runner, but then again they where probably all finished by 10am.

Wasn't too bad, trails are a bit more 'slippery' than what I am used to, front almost washed out twice, but held on...

And all the roots is something to get used to, but all in all a good ride..

The last ones were going past as we rode past Fairy Garden on the way up, they were never really going to be a problem.

And for some reason I feel absolutely shredded now, time to sleep.

Glad you enjoyed it! How would you rate Tokai vs what you're used to?

Um, I mainly ride Tygerberg trails, which I would say are a bit faster and sweeping compared, also a lot smoother. Not groomed, just not as rooty and rocky.

Drops and jumps are pretty much the same though.

Also as said earlier, Tokai seems a lot more slippery.

Oh, Tokai seems much shorter in terms of distance, the sections seem to end quickly.

But all in all it is a good different which will see me back for more, especially Vasbyt.

I'm guessing DJR is referring to Cobra & Mamba which I made a point of avoiding today.

Glad you enjoyed the ride and you picked a good day for it - that was the most grip I have seen up there for a while, a lot less loose sand than has been the case for the last month or so.

Give me a shout anytime you want to go again.

Ditto if you want to venture out northern suburbs way.
