YOU PAID R26000

* for a bike you have't seen in person,

* to some who has been a member for 9 Days

* with NO Seller ratings!?!?!?!?

You're very lucky you have a Bike in your possession!!!!!!

I would count my blessings, lower the seatpost and enjoy my dream bike!

He trusted the hub and the Seller has clearly edited the add last night....so we should put pressure on the seller to pay it back....or don't we mind as a hub community for the seller to do something like this again?

if I bike has compact geometry that seat tube length should have nothing to do with the frame size.

The last time set tube length had any reference to fit was when when steel bikes had their seat tube measured centre-to-centre.

Then frames like cannondale had fat alloy tubes and the overall length then increased as there was a lot more seat tube after the centre point of the seat tube and top tube.

Then 'compact geometry' f'ed it up even more......

Spot On, Finally someone that agrees with me !!

agreed but does that mean what the seller did is morally correct and above board? of course its not

i would urge the seller to take a hard look at himself and realise he f'ed up and needs to be accountable for his actions..simple!

I did the same thing. No ambiguity in the ad. Almost seems the OP bought it faster than he read the ad...

Possible scenario at OP's home:

Wife: Lovie, where did that bike come from?

OP: Err, was a present from a friend in Gauteng

Wife: Nice. Who?

OP: Boo hoo, I lied Lovie. I borrowed money and bought it cos I WANT IT.

Wife: Well, send it back and get your money back. We can's afford to repay a loan!

OP: [quickly places ad on the Hub and follows up with this thread]

But this is probably just my over-active imagination.

Apologies OP. So clearly my imagination was over active.

It really seems stupid, (like mentioned before in this thread) that someone would go and edit their advert after the item was sold. That is deliberate deception which is really uncool.

Seller: Man up and make right dude!

Unfortunately it's guys like this who bring out comments like "never hand over money until you've seen it". There are many sellers, like myself, who have sold gear to people all over the country in the exact condition it was said to be in, followed up, communicated all the way through and sadly for them (and me) we all suffer cause of chops.

I'll still trust that the seller made a honest mistake, but then put your damn hand up and admit to it. If it's such a deal surely someone looking for a 50cm bike will jump at it.

Good day everybody. I have joined this site just to rectify this problem after a friend told me about this thread just now. I am Dr Uys, a woman living in Pretoria. I bought this Giant bicycle for my son but he never used it. After a several months I decided to sell the bike. I paid R32 000 for it and on the Bruce Reyneke invoice it states that it is a Medium. To be exact, it states: TCR ADV 2012 (M) CROM/BLK/BLU. I presumed the (M) stands for "Medium".

I requested Tinus to sell the bike for me because he is a very keen cyclist that did the Argus nine times already. He joined your site and advertised the bike here.

The buyer apparently called Tinus last night, telling him for the first time about the problem he experiences with the size of the bike. Tinus was out on a job and returned to Pretoria this afternoon. He contacted me and told me about the problem. I immediately phoned the buyer and spoke to his brother. His brother told the buyer to phone me back and I have just spoken to him too. Of course I am refunding the buyer and I also sent him my personal details and a copy of my ID. He will send the bike back to me back tomorrow.

Because Tinus wanted to advertise the bike again and not to disappoint me, he activated it and changed the size to M/L, since this caused so many problems.

Everybody is happy and disappointed now. Happy because the problem is properly addressed within 24 hours and disappointed because the buyer cannot have his dream bike and I did not sell it successfully. But, I suppose, this is life.

What a skelm seller, thanks to Admin for confirming the Op's story, looked like thehub lynch mob was already gathering sticks and the pitchforks, just to top his already *** experience Op was now being made out to be a bald-faced liar :(

Edit: We must have posted seconds apart as I didn't see the reply above before posting.

Yay! all sorted, big confusion, broken phones and frayed nerves but now resolved, seller didn't try a fast one just an honest mistake, thanks for sorting it out for the OP Ma'am Dr Uys!

It's a pity Tinus didn't tell the buyer that he would discuss it with you and then get back to him which would have avoided all of this unnecessary drama, but nice response ultimately...
