Bike Racks - Towbar vs Clip-On

Thule make a clip-on rack that is lockable to the car and the bikes can be locked in as well.

Just had a look at it, the RaceWay - very impressive!

Had both....towbar is much better in my view. BUT, some of the latest clip ons do look nifty and neat. Still a lot cheaper than fitting a towbar

A mate has one, very nice rack, not cheap but it is the type that your bike wheels sit in a channel and then the frame is firmly clamped in, its quite a cut above your average clip on rack.

Towbar. Had a towbar fitted to my wife's Audi and it cost R2k.

 

The R7k I spent on the Thule 3 bike platform rack was the second best cycling purchase next to the bike itself. Ok maybe tbe dropper post was second but money well spent fur sure!

 

Get the towbar fitted...

The irony of this topic...

 

I just had a towbar fitted this afternoon as the clip on is such a mission

 

9 / 10 times, id just knock the seats down as opposed to fitting the cling-on

 

Towbar got my vote today!

Towbar SA in Umgeni Road, Durban. It was actually R2250 inc vat and they threw in the black rubber covers for the hitch and the plug ;)
