Keeping my 26" training bike alive - since 2008

I started doing more mountainbiking in 2006 after getting gatvol of roadriding and bought a Fullsus, full carbon 26" at the time.

After training and racing it for a year, I decided to build a hardtail training bike and only race then on the full sus.

So I bought a chines carbon frame on E-bay, and built up a nice training bike and also did quite a few stage races with it (sabie, oudtshoorn, Leeuwenbosh, etc) As I had a cervolo roadbike at the time, I created for the fun of it "bordello" decals and branded the bike myself post-341-0-31762800-1422255016_thumb.jpg

Then the Whole 29er thing happened around 2010....

So after feeling like the for two years and insisting that the 26er is not dead, I converted my fullsuss to 650b, but this made the hardtail feel like a BMX, to did the same conversion ( was lucky, both frame and fork was compatible), and decided I Might as well at the same time go white on the frame and also had some Salomon stickers (also took up trailruning and offroad duathlons) to match my trailshoes.

Now I had two lekker 650's and life was grand..

Then in 2014 I decided to scrath the itch and sold the fullsus and bought a carbon 29er.

Now with the bigger wheels and very wide bars, the 650b was at BMX level again and I decided to sell it.

But then I stumbled on a 26" lefty shock for tjiep-tjiep and decided to give the Chinese carbon/Bordelo/Salomon frame one last lease on life

Friend of mine has a friend that also do a bit of frame respray in his spare time, so I did my own design and gave him the pic plus the frame.

I kept all the components the same, except the bars that I changed to exactly the same as the 29er, to eliminate a bit of the "BMX feel"

I was actually quite impressed with the outcome and the Lefty and wider bars make a huge difference.

Did a race with it already and really handles great.

Also you cannot buy sentimental value..

It is always great to keep looking after the old ones. Really turned out nice. Can you put a lefty fork on just any frame? or is there specific criteria that have to match?
