Serengeti Classic Road

I decided to treat it as a training ride when it changed to Championchip and ended up back to back with B+D.

I started at the back and saw many people "making the mistake". Mostly it looked deliberate. Also ran into several CL/BL/AL riders going VERY slow but still getting to the 90km mark before me.

I don't think I will go to the trouble again. Definitely not as a race.

Speak to the organisers, the timing company has nothing to do with cyclists riding the right/wrong route.

The timing company charges per mat and if there aren't enough mats then the organiser needs to address the situation.

I didnt ride this year but its a pity that there was so much confusion.

Last years race was much better planned with no loops etc

Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes this year

The fact that I came across zero crashes compared to 2 weeks ago means something must have gone right(Not Just with me)... I'm sure the organisers will learn and make the necessary adjustments(Hoping) , I will be there next year.

Good luck on getting everything sorted , races are getting fewer so we need to help to get things up to standard

I didn't mean that they are inferior, only that it would not count towards seeding for Argus (where I am in trouble ). I had to make a choice between the two since my legs just don't recover as they used to. I have nothing against Championchip (except that the results are harder to analyse )

No problem - I'm not saying they're a better timing company either, I was just stating that organisers need to step up and check (double/triple check) their route to make sure their customers (cyclists) are not done in.

BTW - last year, when Argus start times were sent out, I was sent a mail by a colleague of mine - it showed a list of results used to calculate the seeding. I was quite surprised to see the 2013 Carnival City Macsteel National Classic as number 1 on the list. As a CC-timed event, it shouldn't be there but it was...

I'd be interested to see what appears this year - but considering that I'm not doing the Argus (haven't done so since 2008) I need to rely on others to share this information.

Such a cool Roadie race....

It was such a stuff up though last year with the route. So many guys took a serious short cut. So maybe the road works that caused the route change are still in place and to avoid the confusion again they not having it? but i'm sure there is a better reason than that.
