So I now find myself to be a proud owner of a Volvo (Thule ) Bike rack and have found the plug to be incompatible with my cars. Much to my abject amazement at the fact that you got anything other than a 7 pin towbar plug haha. What is the best route to go? Rewire the plug to a SA 7 pin for R37 or go the route of an adapter?

Rewire ... very easy

Thanks, Not worried about the actual rewiring, that should be a piece of cake. Just making sure their are no problems that have been picked up from doing this but I doubt it

A friend had the same issue with a volvo. After searching the boot he found the adapter.

I will have a look in my wife's Kia, my bakkie comes from 2001 so I doubt there will be an adapter rolling around somewhere. . .

Hoping the Kia has one or I will be rewiring, the Volvo agent told me the adapter cost R600 so I laughed and put the phone down.

Rewire it, less places for water to get in and be a pain in the bum

Yeah, believe I am going to go this way for sure. Adapters always seem to give some or other headache. So a rewire is in order. For R37 it makes no sense to buy an adapter. Besides warranty, but those things are so fickle it's not even a worry in my decision making process.

Okay, so how the hell do you get these Thule plugs off? I have managed to get the wiring closure on the back off, but can’t get the main body apart. Don’t particularly want to cut it as I presume you must be able to open it? Any advice?
