If I was the car owner, I would just let it go.

Fix the car and move on, im 100% sure that the cyclist have learned his lesson.

Life happens.....

Say he finds the guy and and and...What then? Car wasn't park in a designated parking area..Etc Ect Etc .. Will go on forever

Exactly what i was thinking.... what if we find that guy then what??? It cant be changed now... also i would like to know if this car was parked correctly... anyone shed some light on that... maybe a photo showing the parked car? In Paarl people park just where they like... on yellow lanes etc.. point is if someone will ask is i see that happening everytime where i live... yes i got eyes so i can get around that but what if this happens to you whilst a car is parked on a yellow line... hence we want to know the full story..

For the cyclist.... please come out and show yourself... go say your sorry and maybe youll find that everything is ok. Im sure he doesnt want to change his normal route and look over his shoulder on every ride.... anyway a new kit might cost you more than a "im sorry"  :whistling:

The car could have been parked in the middle of the lane and still would be the guy rear ending it's fault.

If it was so dark that he could not see the car, he should have been riding with lights, if not, he should have been watching the road in front of him if he is on a public road.

a parked car is like tree - no matter what we'd like to believe, or say, they don't just jump in front of us.

Its embarrassing when you walk into a pole when you are looking the other way - but if it happens that you damage the 'pole'; then you are unfortunately liable for the damages to said 'pole'.

Here's a pic from Street View:

The back of the car was exactly in line with the end of the parking bay that you can see on the right (based on the pictures posted by the OP), so the car would have been about a car space behind the taxi in the pic.

No yellow or red line, and cars always park there to run into the Friendly.

In the second pic you get an idea of where the car was parked.

Cyclist was in the wrong - no question about it.

Think I need a Hub detective badge  :whistling:

Maybe it was that taxi :w00t: and not our cyclist! Easier to blame a taxi though

Just a question.... in the second picture... i see off street parking just before you get that green roofed house. was the car parked there or in front of the house?

Why do you guys go on tangents like this?

Lets keep it simple. Did the cyclist ride into the back of an already stationary car? The fact that the driver was not in the vehicle would suggest that. Pay up for the damages you have caused unless you join this conversation and present a different account of events that shows you were not the cause of this accident.

Exactly, we have an obligation to keep this thread at the top of the list.

What if the offending cyclist works like normal people and doesn't have access to the hub during office hours. He gets home tonight, scans the hub to see if there is a thread about this, and because we stop chatting it is now on page two, he doesn't see it and doesn't come forward....
