Any awesome suggestions for the sole coming away slightly. It's not major, but they are my favourite shoes so I'd love to save them from complete destruction.

A tjoob of good contact adhesive like Bostik should do the trick, as long as you spread a nice medium thick layer evenly all over both sides and WAIT TILL BOTH SIDES ARE TOUCH DRY before pushing the 2 sides together. Contact adhesive use is a bit of a dark art but if you get it right it sticks like crazy.

Helps to sometimes also tie down whatever you are gluing with masking tape to kind of clamp it, or if its possible and you have clamps then 2 clamps and some wood hold the 2 sides together till the glue is totally dry. Another trick is to hammer the 2 halves together once they are joined to make sure the glue has bonded properly throughout the bonded surfaces.

I have a new pair of Specialised Pro carbon shoes with seem pretty tight. Do they ever soften up or is there a way to stretch them out a little I the toe box area ?

If these are the Spez S-Works shoes you talking about, they come in different widths to accomodate different people obviously. The widths is somehow measured in quarter sizing. I too, discovered this too late. Idiot salesman never told me about it. But I have learned to simply not tighten them "too much" which solved the issue. Doesn't make any different to my peddling with the shoe slightly looser.

So the freezer story didn't work. I'll be attempting the shoehorn next

Keep in mind, it only ups by about half a size.

Mine also worked, dit it a year ago.

If you need a full size change, than you better off with new ones.

Bud sorry to say then you done it wrong, it is impossible once done right, put more bags plugged better so the expansion is in the right direction, just think about it if ice was used to split stubborn hard rock, you really think it can't stretch a pair of leather shoes, try place the bags correctly and get enough pressure even if you push the sock in and strap it,,,if all else fails YOUTUBE IT its very common practice

Not sure if it's my imagination but mine do feel more comfy after the freezer 'stretch' ......

BB it's not your immagination as I said the first time you may need yo do it twice maybe the first time there was not enough bags or they were not placed correctly so when the ice expanded it could move out pushing the plug out (sock) and not expanding within the shoe, fill the shoe leave less place for expansion, trust me it works very effectively as I told, Mathew check you tube many videos it's a common used system of stretching shoes

Shouldn't cycling shoes be tight fitting, as secure as possible to prevent heel slippage?

https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/articles/training-nutrition/bike-fitting-cleat-setup-and-foot-position-r1287

"A common misconception is that a cycling shoe should be loose fitting, with enough room for the toes to move and accommodate an increase in foot size once the foot begins to swell during a ride. However, this is not the case and may be the cause for many riders developing bad pedalling techniques in an attempt to compensate for a loose fitting shoe."

The stretching of the shoe will not make it loose, it simply gives you that comfortable worn in feel not that HI BUD IM YOUR NEW SHOE INTRODUCING MYSELF by squeezing the blood out your baby toe,,, again I say I stretched MINE because I am a FLAT FOOT, not many shoes ACCOMODATE us less genetically gifted humans ;)
