Squeaky brake pistons

Hey all!

This weekend I noticed a squeak coming from my brake calipers.

It only happens when I pull the lever and the faster you pull the lever the louder the squeak. At first I thought it was the levers but later while the bike was stationary I pinpointed it to the calipers, specifically the pistons. But It can also be the retaining spring which holds the pads apart?

How do you get rid of this? Do you lube the pistons? What do you use?

I have Shimano XT brakes.

Any ideas?

All those threads seem to be discussing brake squeal?  As in turkey gobble when braking while riding...?

I don't have that issue.

My brakes make a squeak sound while the bike is stationary, when pulling the lever.

It is in the brake caliper itself and I believe its due to dry caliper pistons?

I found this, quote:

"Make sure that niether of the pistons comes right out.  Clean with a Q tip and some degreaser,  when dry lube with hydraulic oil and gently press the pistons back into position.  Use Dot fluid to lube if your brakes use brake fluid."

Is hydraulic oil the only substance I can use to lube the pistons, in this case Mineral oil for XT's?

Or is there something else I could use?
