Only gripe is that there was NO WATER AT THE FINISH.

For ZAR200 entry fee, a bottle of water or 2 after 50kms (ok, 40-odd) would've been a nice touch.

I think 48 is the magic number. I road Modders today, Thae new section I think we'll be riding is less than inspiring.

You were pretty close :-)

Btw that spike energy drink is awful. And I noticed a lot of cans sitting around unfinished. I think USN needs to realise that red bull type energy drinks don't count as recovery drinks and are only opened because they're cold not because anyone actually likes them. frankly it's a terrible waste from what I can see.

The only way they can get rid of stock is to give it away for free.

I ride modders "often" I always think while riding ,,racing there would be *** no place to pass I can only imagine much frustration if you stuck in a group or you get caught in front of a couple of race snakes and you chillin

I was doing the "chillin"! Had a great ride, thanks to an entry from Wahoofish.

Started in D due to being unseeded and a substitute, was a bit dissapointing for the first 20 mins or so, very slow on the single track which are the best bits for me, but then again, I was there for the fun, so adjusted and enjoyed.

Will definitely ride Modders again.

Ja-nee. An energy drink for recovery?! I had two sips and poured that crap out on the grass.

THE POOR GRASS!!!! As a Mountain Biker you should love and respect nature....  :D

But I must agree....that stuff was horrid...

But all in all it was an ok race, just the usual complaints about idiots stopping dead and then standing in the middle of a single-track section to rest. And the tech bits weren't even technical so if anyone did stop and walk them they should be embarrassed!!

I did the 30km, B batch…. all okay until I caught the guy on the fatbike on the single track…. we were about 20 riders stuck behind him for a good while…. no sense to pull off and let faster guys pass, just way too selfish.

I'm not enjoying the USN races anymore - I get stuck behind wayyy too many riders who simply don't know how to ride a bicycle….

Unfortunately you will have that issue at ANY race that has single-track sections. Doesn't matter if it's USN, Trailseeker or even something like the JUMA. There will always be riders ahead of you that annoy you and riders behind you that are annoyed by you.

The only way to get around this is to start in a Pro batch, quit MTB races completely... Coz even on a fun ride you are going to get guys that block your way. Even roadies have this issue....even F1 drivers have that issue.

Just gotta have a little patience til the next overtake spot and then push it from there...

Its all about having fun first and worrying about your time later... Unless you are a pro and your entire salary depends on your time
