It's quite hilarious watching the locals ride in their "winter" gear on, while us Vaalies have short sleeves on.

If it were possible I would like to stay in Durban from April - September, then in the WP from October - March.

Ja, I rode with full length winter gear at 94.7 - it was bitterly cold!

I agree, best place to be in SA from March to Aug is KZN. Peachy, peachy weather. Down here, if it drops below 25 degrees, you grudgingly put on a t-shirt. Below 20 degrees you put on a jersey. If it drops to 15 we are in serious stress (because we don't own more than 1 jersey). And if it goes anywhere below that, they'll shut the schools and issue a state of emergency.

Tombeej, how far are they with the road works under the N2 Bridge?

Still under construction. But I'm sure Stu and his team will make sure everything is fine for us when we come through that section.

18 Days left guys.

The road surface of the last 60km is the best I have seen for a long time. Going to be such a pleasure to ride on it with full road closures.

Anyone else getting amped?

A shout out to the Organisers of the Tour Durban who have totally embraced our fund raising efforts for CHOC.

They are already avid supporters of the Domino Foundation raising much needed funds for their incredible work but have now committed to also assist us, The Cows - Durban Herd to get some recognition and raise funds for our little heroes fighting cancer.

If we manage to get 100 riders to commit to raise funds for The Cows/CHOC they will in turn give us our very own 45km start batch!  They are 100% behind our drive and of course we now want to stampede the 45km and drum up as much support along the route as possible.

There will be cows in full suits, a cow on an ice cream bike and cows in cow print cycle kit.  And this is where all you racing snakes, doing the 105km come in.

It's a long weekend so no doubt you are bringing the family etc.  Why not convince them to enter the 45km fun ride, sign up with the Cows, and enjoy the magic route, weather and atmosphere and, most importantly, raise funds for this incredible cause!

We, as the Cows, will gladly assist those who need a little push up the hill, some encouragement or even mechanical assistance etc. if needed.

And to the Tour Durban Organisers:  THANK YOU - you guys certainly deserve all the recognition for the incredible support and media coverage you've given the Cows - Durban Herd over the past week and more is yet to come!

Let's support a race that puts charities first!!

Just hope the wind stays away. The wind was very strong on the initial planned race day but the next day the weather was excellent. If the wind will be like last year I see a long day in the saddle...

See you all in Durban!!

Bobbie and her daughter, Lauren (a young athlete of note) are heroes and activists for the CHOC Cows. they organize the Cow herd in KZN. They cycle, they run, they arrange logistics, and generally work tirelessly for CHOC. They deserve our support.

Last year Bobbie lost her beloved Dad, Dr Michiel Schreuder to cancer, after a brave battle against the dreadful didease. Although I did not have the privilege of knowing Dr Schreuder, I understand that he was a Specialist Anaesthetist who was said to be among the best in the world. He devoted his life to the care of his patients, always exploring ways of minimizing the trauma of anesthesia and surgery on his patients, especially the little ones, whom he loved.

As I ride along the scenic coastal M4 in this year's edition of the Aquelle Tour of Durban, I will be commemorating Dr Schreuder's life, and that of my own young boy, who died of Leukemia (aged 14) in August 2012. To that end, my only goal for this race is to Ride in my Cow kit, to raise funds and awareness for CHOC.

I ask you to support my initiative, by making a donation to the Cows at http://www.givengain.com/activist/84593/projects/10409/

If you have just one thing in this life to grateful for, please consider expressing that gratitude by clicking on my profile and donating whatever you feel you can afford. It is only when we give, that our lives find expression and true meaning.

Yes, times are tough, and I know we all suffer from donation fatigue. As a father who has both experienced and witnessed, first hand, exactly what child cancer sufferers and their families go through, I can tell you that you will be making a huge difference to someones life by responding to this appeal. No amount is too small !Just R50 will help. If you happen to be loaded, no amount is too big [emoji1]

Thank you for reading this . Lets all support Bobbie in quest for goodness.

Having safely made it through yesterday's Emperor's Classic in one piece, I guess it's safe to enter for this race now. *happy dance*

To the guys that may have entered, but crashed yesterday (or at other times), hope you have a successful recovery. "Môre is nog 'n dag"
