David Marshall Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Major services, minor services. silver, gold and blond services should have followed loose ball bearings and cotter pins into the past. I have a Specialized mtb on the stand right now. The only serviceable items are the shock and fork. All other parts have to be replaced when shot. I don't see any point in stripping and re assembling something that shows no indication of a problem. Get the owner to explain his issues, assess the bike, preferably with the owner present, give an indication of what you think is needed and a cost estimate for the parts and labour. Wash it yourself and check for anything not picked up initially (yes - R80 for the wash). Do what is necessary and charge a reasonable amount for the labour and parts. I use a standard cost based on R350 per hour for labour items.
