I strongly suspect that's just a stock photo. Saw Elana Meyer also tweet it.

It was uploaded to EWN 6 days ago (google image search) so it can in no possible way be related to the jonkers fire.

Edit: looks like it was one of the muizenberg fire pics. Earliest entry I can find is 6 days ago, according to Google.

Looks like it borders a copse of trees so it could be tokai or one of the other areas of south peninsula

Just went for a run up behind Coetzenberg stadium. Very smoky and its all hanging over Stellies. Could hear choppers but no idea on status. No wind at the moment.

You'll see a lot of that now, especially in the 'trusted' media.

yeah, whose idea of "corroborated" is coming from 2 different twitfaces (nevermind they re-tweet the same original source)

It's on Twitter! It MUST be true!

Or when one news report quotes the other with slightly different facts. It's like broken telephone, only brokener!

or that FB post that I told you about, from a "senior" producer on eNCA who INSISTED that the manor house had burnt down on Tuesday evening, an hour after we left the plantation (when the fire was still up at level 2)

K asked me, and I was like "huh!? Erm, NO!?"

Response from said producer when being told that she was incorrect, and that her info was wrong - "I'm speaking with a senior Parks official now" - which essentially means she was on Tweeeeta. At that stage not even the guest house was in danger - that happened quite a few hours later.

Just had two heli's go over the office and turn up the valley.

Problem is there is a low cloud layer and the wind is starting to blow.

Smoke in the valley, low cloud cover = no flying, just to dangerous. And with no homes being threatened they will hold back. Steep mountain sides will be terrible for the fire fighters. They will very much hold back.

Just a read a news report that the fire line is a very long one.

Well, lets hope that the wind is not in the valley :(
