My choice is XT crank, RD and shifters  .SLX FD and cassette. Many problem-free hard miles .My real question is if i should go shimano 1 x10 or sram XO 1x10 when this lot needs to be replaced

Go 1 x 10 Sram with gripshifts.

You will never look back!

Zee. The end.

Currently Deore has the best price-to-performance ratio of Shimano's MTB range.

The new Deore has all of the features that XT currently has - it's just a tad heavier.

XT has stainless bolts and pivot shafts.

SLX has a chromed mild steel.

Otherwise they are similar. Naught wrong with SLX

Thank you!

Now at least I know there is some difference between them although I don't think it will make an appreciable difference. Maybe last a little longer...

ummm ok everything you said is true... sometimes it is just a bit crisper. tweak on the dents and bends of the metal. it is all marginal.

That's why it is almost not worth it going from slx to xt.

However the shifters make a huge difference. XT is crisp.

besides... you lost a whole 2g there

agree on the shifters  - they are very crisp and precise. Also like the 2 down 3 up functionality. As for the FD... doesn't feel any different BUT as GoLefty pointed out; stainless vs. chrome so will probably be better wearing

XT shifters are way better than SLX shifters. As for the rest, not that much difference in performance. More marginal gains on weight. Price tag on XTR just doesn't make it practical for the average person (like myself) to even look at it.

And don't forget if you look carefully the XT's pivot shafts are hollow, must be where they found the extra 2g.
