[Event] PHILADELPHIA MTB

There was a whole bunch of us that didn't see the long route sign after the water point where the races split. My wife who was about 10 minutes ahead of me says there was a big commotion as they tried to "cut off" a bunch of them, but they forced their way past a marshal/farmer onto the long route. Those of us just behind weren't so lucky. In fact we were deceived, as the folks at the water point told us to just follow the signs over the concrete bridge (knowing it was the medium route). I suspect they removed the long route markers. I do feel short-changed and a bit miffed, having missed the cut at the Philadelphia Epic MTB. And it wasn't like we'd been out there for 5 hours or something. It clear from the results that something went wrong.

I also do feel rather cheated out of 20km. I came with the idea of doing the 63km in preparation for upcoming long distance mtb events.

Where are you mounting your chip? When I had mine on my fork I didn't get results.

I have always placed mine on my shoes, and never had an issue. Strangely enough, my Breederiver results did reflect, and then removed..? Still waiting on a response from Racetec. It don't bother me much, as I won't be renewing my PPA membership this year, their MTB races are diminishing and those that are still happening always have "issues", so I'll enter them as a TEMP :) + there are many more well organized races through out the year!

Like milky said, not the toughest of routes... Not a lot of climbing,BUT the sand & wind made you work for every kilometer, especially the second half of the race.

Can't complain about the sand, was able to ride just about everything, WC was dry up until now so that is just part of mtb'ing here. Suffered more than I expected though, was off the pace and faded badly the last 10km's, still have a lot of work to do to get back to my old fitness.

Climbs at the start a nice challenge, enjoyed the sandy singletrack challenge down Dieprivier, last few kilometers a bit of a brown, dusty bore but a good workout nonetheless.

Routemarkings - I'm definitely not the most observant rider around, and managed to do the whole route so the directions could not have been that bad.

My results also not reflected on Racetec but... nothing like that feeling of seeing the timing matts when your group goes off and remembering "Oh F$%%!, timing chip is at home!" I guess that is what happens if you don't do a lot of PPA races anymore ( was nice though pitching 5 minutes before the start of of the race and walking past the crowds to the front group, though if I don't bring my timing chip along this won't last long...)

Is it just me or did we do that same "forest single track" in the Durbie Dash as well? I swear it's the same tracks.

Looked the same to me too.....

pretty happy with my 3:05 on the 64km - Paced myself this time and had lots of energy left for the last 20km:D Loved the route except for the sand... the single track was nice and flowing and the beers were cold at the end so no complaints from my side.

i hope you said that with tounge in cheek, cause I know people that will be really, really upset for even classifying that as Single Track let alone flowing, LOL!! :-)
