It also helps weighing just a little more than a mosquito and having quads the size of the beast......

A mate of mine says he witnessed a guy wearing one the COWS charity outfits going over the edge of the road at a heck of a speed during one of the long and steep descents (not sure which one – there were many) and by the time he got to the bottom he reckons the ambulance was on its way up. I was about five or so minutes behind my mate and I recall seeing and hearing the helicopter circling the area. Does anyone know if the cyclist is okay?

He is certain that his mind was not playing tricks on him, despite all the climbing.

Entered the 2016 event. Let's see how this race is :)

Now to start planning and keep training.

more than enough time to prep and train and get faster. My goal is to shave of 20 minutes from last year.

Trick will be to avoid my yearly semi-hibernation ;) The smart trainer should help this year.

Most important will be planning the route my wife will have to drive from PMB to the finish to pick me up after the race.106km is a piece of cake compared to an upset and emotional wifey who got lost...

Hah! :) She's only just starting to actually enjoy cycling (a few 10km-ish MTB rides on Sundays), don't want her to divorce me already

All you need to do is give her directions to suncoast beach and I'm sure she will she will find her way.

Perhaps, she does know PMB, though she hasn't been there in years.

But, she did manage to get lost recently in PTA/JHB (even with a GPS), so rather safe than sorry. Ideally I'd like to drive the route she needs to take, the day before the race.

N3 to spaghetti junction, take N2 north then off at Umgeni. Follow Umgeni until just before the Moses Mabida stadium, turn left and park at there. Easier to get in/out from there compared to the N3 which is blocked

So, like this?

Google Maps

I could probably drive this route on the way to registration, two birds one stone.

Thank you very much!
