Blackheart Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I'm doing Trans Karoo again this year, and need to do more district road type training.Last year I did a lot of road miles and found that whle my fitness and speed were fine, I was not conditioned enough for the corrugations.I've done a lot of road miles this year too, but now want to do some more appropriate training on top. Does anybody know of any safe, district type roads where I can ride for 5/6 hours, preferably in a loop?I'm in Cape Town and don't mind driving an hour or so. Cheers.

Skubarra Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 From Durbanville there are a number of options for long corrugated dirtroad loops. Check out Occultdale, Slent, Paarl Nature Reserve and Waarburgh road for roughly a 100km loop, majority gravel, a bit of tar in between.

We caught & passed a Harley Sunday morning - the poor man was all over the road

Bumping along into a headwind on that crap road can make the biggest dirtroadie hate mtb'ing, specially if ou are on a hardtail...
