I have been looking at this race for a long time but had no way to decide whether I can/ should do it. Last week I did 2 laps of the 947 with about 30min break in the middle. It panned out OK - so now the noob question: How many meters of climbing is there? How do the riders do it - equal splits or is the second much slower/faster?

Good luck to all. Hope to join you next time.

You must do it. I am shocked you haven't yet?

We can ride it one Saturday morning on Virtual Training if you like...with the two breaks in between. The complete route is there...hahaha

As said, once you done it, your hooked.

Will be my fifth one this year.

What about the weather, do you think if its pouring, full on pros might call it a day as an accident in a funride is not worth ruining next season?

If anything, bad weather surely plays into their hands as they probably ride every second weekend in it (with the correct kit as well).

Rule #9//

If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.

Anyway, true pro's wouldn't let the rain stand in the way of a win.

A selfless punt, we are donating two bikes to the Swellendam community tomorrow before the DC and Crown cycles in Cape Town gave us a massive discount and fixed the bikes up in one day!!

Big thanks to the guys at Crown Cycles for helping us give back a little to the Swellendam community.

The total climb is 3315m with the bulk of the climbing done by 70clicks in.

Seems I've forgotten just how much climbing there is.

From memory, I would have said a little over 2000m.

Fortunately most of it on reasonably fresh legs, and then downhill/flat until those last few kickers.

It's definitely closer to 2000m (I got 1859m last year)

Those kickers are far tougher than any of the real climbs. It's there that you find out who your true mates are!

My Garmie always display about roughly 2300 m ascent

It certainly doesn't feel like much more than 2000m but I went by what the number is shown on the route profile page.... I did do a double take when I saw it. (Digital elevation 'enhancement' perhaps?)

Half of the team I am in are not speaking to each other at the moment, it's going to be a very long tedious day if people can't set aside their egos.

Eishhhhh! That's not the spirit required for this event! Will make for a trying day and many short fuses! Expect issues on all the climbs when difference in strength comes into play! See you out on the road Nix! (What time are you guys off at the start?)
