lukelockie Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Attention singlespeeders! The Gravel Travel is fast approaching and I would love to know who has entered the Wilde Gravel Travel Singlespeed category. 60 kms with 1600m of climbing so it should be a tough day in the saddle. https://www.facebook.com/WildeGravelTravel
DirtyDan Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I will most certainly be joining in the orgy of a sufferfest! Entered a month ago.
Zatopek Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I survived Breede (first time on SS), which was my test.... will most likely join you.

lukelockie Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 I will be bringing some tow ropes to attach to riders as they pass me on the flats. If you happen to feel some extra weight, don't fight it, just keep on going...
Nick Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 What flats? http://www.roag.co.za/media/262372/wilde%20gravel%20travel%202015%20map%2060km.jpg
J∆kk∆ls Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Question I have a 34t chainring, should I get a 18 or 20 tooth cog? 26er
DirtyDan Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Jakkels, I know nothing about 26er gearing, but I'm going for a 100km MTB on Sunday morning on tygerberg trails if you want to join?

lukelockie Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Question I have a 34t chainring, should I get a 18 or 20 tooth cog? 26erI'm going 32-20 on my 29er, as Nick mentioned, there are no flats so I think an easy gear (if there is such a thing) is the order of the day. Anyone keen to meet for a beer the eve before? Discuss where along the route we can hide some extra gears?

Anyone keen to meet for a beer the eve before? Discuss where along the route we can hide some extra gears? Haha thanks. Yeah think I'm going for a 34-20 on my 26er. It will offer me a 1.7:1 ratio which I think will be more or less the same as your 32-20 ratio on your 29er ( I could be wrong though) Since there are no flats I'm not worried about spinning out I just hope my heart can deal with all the climbing. or I will be doing this
