BenReaper Posted April 28, 2015 Share If it were my money I'd also consider the GT Zaskar.

N-I-N-J-A Posted April 28, 2015 Share Everyone will probably recommend the bike that they are riding so I will do the same... C.) Silverback Storm 1 I have one and I am sure that the other people who ride one will agree that it is a great bike at a great price. You will probably be able to get one new for under R30k. Full XT with ZTR Crest wheels I have done two Epics on mine without any problems. I did have an issue with a hairline crack in the frame at the end of last year and they replaced if no questions asked!
PoiZoNouZ Posted April 28, 2015 Share Silverback Storm. Full XT. Amazing bike. My mate has one and he has not stopped smiling since the purchase.

dev null Posted April 28, 2015 Share Jip, and very heavy! Any problem with frame and its a slep! SCOTT 920, the only option! Disagree. My son's XTC Advanced SL frame is only marginally over 1kg. And as for cracking, his mate who was XCO champ last year rode it for a whole year with all the training, and has yet to get any cracks. Obviously you can't do big jumps with it, but that is the same for all lightweight carbon hardtails. The Swift is also a good option. I looked at the Stumpjumper for my son. but at R45K just for the frame alone, it was a hard pill to swallow. Especially as it was going to be used as a race and training bike every week by a hard riding teenager. In any case, I don't think you can get a 2015 XTC Advanced SL 29er from Giant. They only make them in 27.5/650B now.
