Iwan, can you let me know the price ?

Slider 1 - Don't see the demo anymore. Maybe give Jacques a call and ask. Also saw a packaged deal on a Sprada 2

would carbon for a starter rider make that much of a difference ?

Geo, suspension (shock, fork), wheels and then drivetrain plays a more important part than carbon.

Oh geesh Iwan, that doesnt clear things up!

140mm travel, 135 at the back, and sram x1

vs 120 travel, with ctd  and xt.

now that clears things up nicely .......... or not !

  Glad I could help!

R14k is a big difference...lots of road tripping and riding bikes locked up in there.

Definitely not both split pivot. Pyga is a 4-bar.

A 9.8 at that price? No contest.

They're almost the same ito suspension design. Both "split pivot" or a derivative thereof, both with "floating" suspension.

Slightly different leverage ratios and pivot placements, but tbh they're as close as Dammit in performance according to the guys who know what they're talking about.

Get the trek. That's a STEAL of a price. And it's a brilliant bike

No worries at all, it is indeed ;) Think I should actually work on an article detailing different suspension designs...

Thanks for the correction, Andre (if it is you behind the name)

I was thinking of the sukuma...

Umm does this mean one better than another?

in terms of the specs on first post what does this mean?

4-bar?

Not over analysing - just want to make sure I get the best.

Which brings this to the murky underworld of second hand - what kind of bike could one get second hand in the price range of R30K that meets the above specs, remembering that it is not a race bike we are after - but something that is forgiving and easy to ride.

This was my understanding too.

All this time I was pissed off at Pyga.

4 bar? Am I really so doff that I can't see the difference?

Someone please enlighten me.
