Hennie VR Posted June 1, 2015 Share How cool is this. Think this can be great in combating poaching in SA as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w9YTJjGaEg

Shebeen Posted June 1, 2015 Share when i see these cameras, lily and and and,,,,,all i think is can you imagine what type of toys the military are playing with I used to work on these 'toys'. Thing is military use was severely restricted to certain projects/groups etc etc etc. You would find guys on the same side not really sharing their work because it all had to be secretive. There has been technology trickling down, but I would say that the advancements to come from here on for camera drones are going to come mainly from civilian use. here are the two local guyshttp://www.deneldynamics.co.za/products/uas/reconnaissance-systems/seeker-200-uashttp://www.paramountgroup.biz/en/capabilities/advanced-technologies.html to think this article is now 7 years old.http://www.engineeringnews.co.za/article/once-a-uav-leader-south-africa-is-in-danger-of-losing-ground-to-a-host-of-competitors-2008-07-

Skinnyone Posted June 2, 2015 Share IMO the Sprite makes more sense as it is more portable than the Lily...but it requires a more complex flight controller.
Hennie VR Posted June 2, 2015 Share IMO the Sprite makes more sense as it is more portable than the Lily...but it requires a more complex flight controller. It is important to note that they state that the Sprite is not a toy. It's a tool, therefore it is actually a totally different drone to the Lily. It was never designed to be a toy but a tool that can be used for recreational activities as well. What I like about it is that it has quite an amazing range for a drone. Apparently it can do a flight path of up to 6km which not many other drones can match, GOOD LUCK finding it though if it decides to fly into a tree during it's flight. But it's not launched yet so who knows what tech it will have by then. Maybe it will be able to dodge obstacles by then. Another thing that I like is the fact that it is modular and can be upgraded as net tech becomes available. I think they have a winning formula and hope they make it to production. Hennie VR Posted June 2, 2015 Share How much does these cost? The Sprite seems to be on pre-order on Kickstarter ranging from $800-$1300 depending on the options you would like.

Dubber Posted June 2, 2015 Share Lots of options out there - all at different price points. If you don't need anything just yest, I would wait until the new year. GoPro will be launching their own product. Being GoPro you can assume it will be top draw? If you already own a GoPro - which I suspect a large number of us do - then it may be a little cheaper. (Based on the assumption that the camera will be an added extra). That said, no GoPro products are cheap. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2015/05/28/gopro-to-enter-drone-virtual-reality-markets/
