HUH?

If you don't know why El Captian made his comment, maybe shouldn't comment on his comment because you don't understand it, like you said he must not do...

Gwin had an amazing run - leave it at that. El Capitan inferred something from astatement and gesture that didn't need an attack.  Maybe just say "I am not happy with the way Gwin pointed to God or whatever"  But he made a comment that is pure speculation - no fact.  He put it out here on the hub and that is why I made the comment.

nothing speculative - his redbull profile says:-

Strength - Master God (or something like that)

Weakness - Ice cream (i think)

its a well known fact that he is a devoted christian

Exactly!

That's my point though. His douchebaggery is easy to attack simply because he assigns his success to a higher power. Not his hours spent working on his fitness, or his race prep, or his mechanic eaking out extra grams on his bike.

It's all cos I'm a good Christian. Better than all the other Christians.

I sincerely doubt that Gwinn attributes zero credit to his team and supporters.  Or maybe he walks into the pit, past his mechanic, team manager, Troy Brosnan etc and just goes to bed without so much as a thank you. Maybe him and Troy get along so well just for show and marketing purposes.

Have you actually ever met him?  Spent a minute in his conversation?  People who have seem to have a very different opinion of that prize douche, but of course, we get to judge each and every sports personality by their behavious under pressures and emotions we will NEVER experience and that makes it so.

Keep your comments to stuff you know or understand about - you have absolutely no idea why he did that, nor do I know why you made this comment. The facelessness of the screen allows us to say stuff we might not have said had we known more.

read Herod's account

Wow. Seems as if I hit a nerve. Do carry on.

No, I haven't. And it would be highly irregular of him to not thank his mechanic and managers and sponsors. But then the problem that I have with most religious folk that display their special brand of faith like that (gross generalisation I know) is that they don't acknowledge the input, work and so on that goes into it, and have this stupid belief that they are favoured above everyone else when they win, and yet when they lose it just "wasn't their day". I just find it incredibly conceited.

Anyway. I'll just leave it there. At the end of the day he had a BRILLIANT run, and was the best on the day. Nobody can take that away from him.

I think it's because he doesn't kiss the podium girls... They seem to know to avoid him, well she did yesterday anyway...

On the other hand, I thought Fearon was about to slip some tongue!

Based on the amount of mechanical issues Gwin has during race runs, it's the mechanic that should be thanking Aaron for not firing his behind!

Lol. Maybe it's cos of his mechanic that he won this one!?

You know... "forgot" the outer chain link when he put the chain on, knowing the Spaz rides better without a chain?

Having to ride buttery smooth out of necessity... yes, that definitely had something to do with it...

but anyone who has ever tried riding without a chain will know how terrible it feels. Even if one doesn't want to pedal, the lack of that tension/feedback on the cranks is more than a little unnerving!

Love him or hate him (for his religious views, for Trek-gate, whatever), his was still the best rider on the day, and no matter who you attribute it to... that run was somewhat miraculous!
