Having to ride buttery smooth out of necessity... yes, that definitely had something to do with it...

but anyone who has ever tried riding without a chain will know how terrible it feels. Even if one doesn't want to pedal, the lack of that tension/feedback on the cranks is more than a little unnerving!

Love him or hate him (for his religious views, for Trek-gate, whatever), his was still the best rider on the day, and no matter who you attribute it to... that run was somewhat miraculous!

Yeah, I know how that feels

Keep your comments to stuff you know or understand about - you have absolutely no idea why he did that, nor do I know why you made this comment. The facelessness of the screen allows us to say stuff we might not have said had we known more.

read Herod's account

Goose if you're going to reference the Bible could you please do everyone a favour and give the specific book, chapter and verse. Don't particularly feel like reading through all of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts to find one specific account that you are so vaguely referencing.

Btw I'm a Christian and think that El Capitan is pretty justified in his criticism of Gwin and his at times inappropriate profession of faith.

Erm no.. maybe the guy is just an ass.. who know and who cares about his faith.. each to his own.. but if he is not gracious in defeat then I can tell you that that's not very Christian like.[emoji6]

For me it's the stupid ass kit.

I think he's a nice enough guy but ja he definitely could do with showing better sportsmanship considering his regular profession of faith in Christ. I often wonder if he ever stops to consider the potential impact of his words and actions. How it can and does reflect badly on other Christians and gives license to other Christian athletes to misrepresent what Jesus and Christianity is truly about.

As for the kit - he's American and rides for Spaz, enough said.

read Herod's account

If you don't know why he made that comment then, by your own logic, you should be keeping your comments to yourself.

Or is it the 'facelessness' of the internet that allows you to attack another poster?

The major gripe from me is that by displaying it THAT blatantly is akin to saying that he'd won cos God favoured him above all the other Christians / atheists / Muslims and ordained that he be possessed of all that talent.

What about the other guys? Did God just pick HIM over everyone else?

Prize douche. But a flippin talented one.

I think a major influence would be how Gwin interprets Psalm 139. Does he view it as purely spiritual truth or both spiritual and literal truth? And even if he does view it as both it's no license for his arrogant views on his talent. Nothing wrong for him to give God the glory for giving him the talent but don't make it seem like God gave him alone that level of talent as it would make a mockery of guys like Mick Hannah and Greg Minnaar's (according to Gwin, Greg is also a Christian but I know of no interview or similar where Greg has made a public profession of faith) incredible abilities as bike riders and racers. A little humility goes a long way.

Nico expressed it better.  I have met Myles - not so faceless.

Not too sure who you are... But then I've always been *** with names and faces.

Having said that, and you saying you've met me (but not whether you know me or not) probably means that you realise that my online persona is pretty much exactly how I am normally. I say it how I see it.

And me? Faceless? Not when I have all that detail on my profile with my name, Skype addresses and so on.

I actually read an interview with him and he does not attribute everything to the guy in the sky.. He acknowledges the work and the skill and the effort. I just don't think he is very sporting..... Gwinn will be a dh great just like the Frenchman voillouz .... Peaty and Greg will be legends.... That's the difference

Been reading the comments with interest. Always amazes me how politics and religion can get a crowd so fired up :D

In a nutshell how I see it is that Gwinn gave thanks to God for his abilities not for making him faster than everyone else. Yes actions speak louder than words and I haven't delved deep into the persona that is Aaron Gwinn (I will be having a look though) so I'm going to reserve comment on his beliefs but I am going to say this... Just because you sleep in a a garage, that doesn't make you a car...

Stretch's last sentence summed it up though.

read Herod's account

Gwin murdered his own family and killed many rabbis?

When I first googled Herod's account to see what you were on about, I though it said that he'd killed "many rabbits", and maybe that was the key to his skills: bunny hops slow you down...
