A BMX tjoop is smaller (20/24") therefore a tighter fit over the rim to seal the spoke holes better.

Olympic was telling me about a R250.00 UST conversion instead of the Stans or Joes (R500.00 +) system.

But exactly as the gangsta says it gives a nice tight fit for better sealing Tongue

Not sure how BigBen's conversion is working, but mine is holding up 100%.

No air leakage at all so far.

Hey all - so far so good. Still fine.

 

Not looking forward to topping up with Joe's though cause it's not the removable core tube but lets see!

BB, wouldn't a syringe do the job nicely? Not sure where to buy one though.

just deflate and remove a small section of bead from the rim. Pour Joes/Stans or whatever in, and re-inflate. I'll put money on it you'll get it inflated using a floor pump. I've done this maaaaaaany times.

I want try the tubeless conversion on my road bike too...Just 1 question:

 

When the tyres are worn have to be replaced, how much of a mess is it when the tyre is removed and how difficult is it to clean the rim up for the new tyre?

Not sure whether this was discussed. To seat the beads when fitting a tubeless tyre you need a quick blast of a volume of air quickly. Not many of us has compressors to do this but all of us have spare tyres. If you connet your tube to a car tyre with a length of reinforced air hose and two valve clips at each end and add a normal ball valve in the middle to controll the flow of air you have a large volume of air that is available quickly. Can also be used to "blowdry" a washed chain and other odd things. Just remeber to re-inflate your spare tyre as that would now be a calamity if you need it, would it not!!!!!!!!!

Rather worry if you have a blow out on the rear tyre...... goo will be sprayed everywhere and it will be messy!!!!!!!!
