Great vid's. The trails look awesome.

A few questions:

How did you find the dirt over there compared to here ie. grip levels wet/dry, soil type (as I saw you were doing some up close inspections on day 3&4  :whistling:).

Also from the vid's the trail flow seams to be very stop-start with technical little climbs. There seemed to be a few blind obstacles/sections which didn't seem to have any sort of warning/grading system (these would defiantly cause a issue for a lot of SA riders)

Defiantly not a Sani2C.

Nope. Although I have not ridden sani from what I understand some of the trails are manicured like a Sandton business woman nails.

The closest soil type in SA is more or less as Witfontein in george. it is grippy but does not cake up your tires. No clay. The roots are bumpy en when wet every one turns into a ninja assassin trying to be bring you to their level.

The trails are rated blue, black, green, and then flow or tech.

Majority of the trails we rode were blue or green.

The average speed is lower some are fast some are not. But their idea of flow in a tech trail is different.

All the features that is not taped of is ride able, however they do say ride within your ability. . A lot Most of our trails are getting numbed down due to lack of skill and scared riders. There you need to learn to ride. Pad up and go and ladies of 45 and 50+ ride without complaining.

That said. Spaz epic is not a bike you see often. 120mm+ travel bikes.

Day 5 the one guy switched from his rocky element to a altitude. He whipped me on the descends and he is 50.

Also met a guy from stellenbosch more experienced in years. And some days, especially day 5 was a struggle. We don't really have the gradient in our trails.

Hope this answers some questions.

O and if you are considering this, start a upper body gym regime. Some days, especially day 5, your arms take a beating. One section I could barely hold on, and when I needed to shift, I couldn't, my hands ha no power left.

This looks so freaking cool. Bucketlist stuff.

Were there any fatbikes on the trail? Also, do you reckon you could manage this event on a fatbike with front suspension?

I remember 1 fatbike with a lauff fork. Finished ahead of me everyday.

There were guys on hardtails, but the one guy I met did his first time on a HT and won't do it on a HT again.

1. Squamish looks freaking amazing.

2. You have some freaking balls on you descending like that.

3. This whole race really is single-track heaven. Wow. Absolutely blown away.
