Disappointed in coach Swen Lauer - swenlauer.com

If there are three sides to every story - Mine / His and the truth?

Here's MINE:

2 years ago, I sent my newbie wife to Swen Lauer for some skills. (Found him on the W2W site) - I tagged along for fun and Swen did a great job with my wife... She is now a demon on the MTB - Thanks for that.

Fast forward to this year, as I got an Epic entry, I decided to call up coach Swen to get a training program. He explained he had all these top athletes and agreed to give me a program based on my very erratic schedule. (I'm away for weeks at a time and can't train, but then home for weeks where I can train without restriction - I sent him my schedule)

His fee was around R1000 per month plus a R1000 deposit. I agreed to pay him for 6 months in advance and I paid in Euros - I gave him €600. My first mistake....

About a week later a got a two week block of a training program. After that two week period, I was away for a week so was not alarmed when I did not receive anything else. Then into week four, nothing... and week five nothing.

I sent a couple of reminder emails... nothing.

So on week six, I made other arrangements. That was a month ago and to date, still no reply to my emails with regards to refunding my money.

I tried calling but no luck either....

So before I rant about him running off with my money and not delivering on the agreement, I would like him to either explain HIS side or refund my money.

So over to you Swen Lauer....

Although I consider this topic closed, I feel it's only correct to post the reply I just received from the UCI when I approached them on this matter:

"We make reference to your correspondence of 30 June 2015, the content of which received our full attention.

Please be informed that as part of the Coach Development Programme delivered under the auspices of the World Cycling Center, Mr. Lauer has successfully completed the UCI Coaching Diploma. This does however not mean that Mr. Lauer is a “UCI accredited coach”.

Furthermore Mr. Lauer is not a representative of the UCI nor a UCI licence holder and is therefore not submitted to the UCI Constitution and Regulations in accordance with art. 1.1.004 of the UCI Regulations. As a consequence, the UCI has no jurisdiction to deal with this issue."

Happy trails....

What precisely does this mean? Did he have a 100% attendance record during the course and therefore, according to the UCI "successfully" completed it?  But because he isn't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree and the UCI actually wants F-all to do with him he wasn't accredited?

C&C I think you should be more specific in this thread, you say" other good coaches" I would edit that post if I was you ;)

You are implying we are discussing good coaches

Well all I can say is good luck in finding other good coaches, my boyf has been approaching top coaches and being turned away because they are too busy.

Get on bike, pedal hard, load on strava, repeat.

If he really wants to do well, buy a power meter, then he will feel so guilty after spending the money, he will train every day.

Then boom, will get fitter.

Dont even need to turn the power meter on :P

Alot of friends that have bought power meters and got coaches are much faster now, but if you check their strava, they are riding 6 times more now :P  ha ha.

*This is a gross over simplification for some of the masses.* * I am about as qualified as Swen to give advice on the subject*

No power meter, no Strava, no hope for T.B. :( I clearly need a coach. Money laundering, no extra charge.

The whole point of my post was just to get on the bike and pedal :) Once that becomes boring you can start skipping meals to get Frooms's arms and save up for a coach to tell you to go pedal harder :P

Can someone that knows about the googles explain, why this thread when searched using his name only says this thread only has 16 posts?

Does it not update weekly?

Can you pay google 300 euro to keep a search result down the list ?

Haha, ja, once I start on the diuretics, laxatives and methamphetamine, I'll be ready for Strava (as dictated by some coaches, I am sure) . For now, I shall pedal in a circle.
