Registered financial advisor???

No,  and that's exactly why I have the advice for the OP.... if I were an advisor I would prolly want to ensure he does finance the thing....1140 rand initiation fee and 57 rand a month admin fee plus the usual interest....damn ....its a money making racket ......

but at the end of the day, I like being sanctimonious and a grumpy ole goat....

don't finance a bike,....look I said it again...

To all the guys telling him not to finance a bicycle - mind your own fkng business. It's his choice, he's not asked you for your opinion on finance, he's asked for your opinion on which bike to go for.

If credit is treated appropriately there's no reason whatsoever that it can't be applied to a bicycle.

Oh ja , I fforgot, this is the hub and we never ever deviate from the topic.....well apart from when we do which looks like u just did too.

Buying a bike on finance is a *** stupid idea.... I think even you can figure that out

Yeah, cos financial advisors are also personal loan originators.

Actually, it all hinges on the interest rate that you get on your loan, and how you plan on financing it. I can run the numbers for you if you want (hint - it's what I do for my clients) but then you probably won't listen to it either, and will revert to personal attacks, just like you have here.

Just like a residual loan agreement on a car isn't a bad idea, if you treat it correctly. It's all about the numbers.

Guys, lets get back on topic and give some opinions on some good bikes?

Lets go argue about finance here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/140826-bike-finance-crazy-expensive/page-7?hl=%2Bbike+%2Bfinance&do=findComment&comment=2654000

Yes Patch, Sorry Patch, whatever you say, Patch...

(already posted there quite a lot)

OP - I'd go Giant / Merida.

Unbeatable value. Brilliant after sales service.

By the time you're ready to spend R40k on a road bike you must have answered this question?

- Are you looking for an endurance bike or an aero bike?

Personally I would choose comfort (Trek Domane, Giant Defy, Spez Roubaix) over an aero frame.

With road bikes it's also going to be an emotional purchase so get the bike you've actually right clicked the image and said save as. In my case that would be a Cervelo R3 or a Trek Emonda.

My LBS has a 2014 Giant Propel Advanced (NEW) Road bike!

Was R49995

Now R33000

SPECS: Shimano Ultegra Di2, 10 spd, carbon, 57cm.

Probably the best deal you will find.

PM me.

For that price I would saw bits of frame off!!
