wisecrack Posted April 7, 2008 Share While I'm on this subject if something is marked lets say 8.8Nm maximum torque do I tighten it to 8.8Nm or lets say somewhere in between ie 7.5Nm?
Christie Posted April 7, 2008 Share If it is marked 8.8Nm, torque it as close to 8.8 Nm as you can get it.

madmarc Posted April 8, 2008 Share Look around at the tool suppliers for other makes as well. Bike torque wrenches tend to be expensive because they are for bikes. Furthermore if you want a torque wrench to cover 4Nm to 100Nm you will probably need 2 because a normal tool box torque wrench generally start at 20Nm and go up to about 250Nm. Smaller torque Wrenches will do 5Nm to 20Nm but they are very expensive
Dirtbreath Posted June 26, 2008 Share Have just invested in a fancy torque wrench and want to go through my bike this weekeknd (basically just play with my new toy). I found these recommended specs on the Yeti website (in lb.inch) but want to know what to tighten a stem onto carbon bars and also bar ends. Another one is the water bottle cage mount.Torque SpecsPivot Bolts 125 -150Derailleur Hanger Bolts 30 -45Handlebar Binder Bolt 150 -180Stem Binder Bolt 175 -260Seatpost Binder Bolt 150 -180Saddle Clamp Bolts 175 -250Rear Derailleur 70 -86Front Derailleur Clamp 45 -60Chainring Bolts 88 -
Piernas Flacas Posted June 26, 2008 Share Mmmm... interesting topic. What would be the most critical bolts that need proper torque?
fandacious Posted June 26, 2008 Share torque wrenches are for panzies. Turn it till it strips, then a 1/4 turn back
