apparently a stellenbosch based rider died last night of a heart attack.

i was supposed to ride the epic with mark johnstone's the times partner, thys. i just phoned him, and he spoke to mark last night and he was fine. i think it may not be the same guy.

just an update. mark johnstone is just about to board a plane home to jozi. so, it's definitely not him.

Aparantly it is Mark Johnstone, he died just after 1 last night.

Hubber's let make 100% sure we know who the Gent is before we do any further posting. Not nice to make false statements & name people if you are not sure. Death is such a sensitive topic.

 

I've been down that rd and it isn't nice for the family to start receiving calls and you have no idea what they are talking about. Your partner is away on a trip and you can't get hold of him/her.

 

Members we have no idea what goes through ones mind, so please let's take the family into consideration.

skye, you make an excellent point. i freaked out my mate thys (the times' mark johnstone's teammate) when i phoned him to ask him about the original posting.

I have met Mark maybe 3 times, but know his family very well.

My condolences to them all.

His funeral is on Friday.
