hi all

This might be a strange post, but where can a person ride without actually using the Wildcard, and with Tokai closed is it worth getting a new one? Once apon a time i used to ride at Rhodes, my dad and brother, and now i wanted to take my kids and was told i need to have a wild card to ride there, luckily no green ticket

So hence the question; where do i take my kids to ride and should they get their own card, and where does this card allow me to actually ride? as i see riders in newlands forest station with thier kids, yet that is a no cycle zone? i know places like Meerendal have an entrance fee per day, but now that Tokai is closed Jonkers and meerendal have become busy, so where can i take my youngsters, wildcard and non?

We going to check out Chrix Nixons Academy, as it looks cools, but also busy.looking for the non hooligan factor!

The last time i rode i never needed cards, just my bike, my backpack, water bottle and family, i want to do that with my kids now!

Yeah… then what he said… ^^^^^

But also….

G Spot has a newly built kiddies track (Stellenbosch)

and then there is also Southey Vines (Somerset West)

Edit: Oh, there is also Koeberg Nature Reserve up the R27 and apparently they have built a kiddies track at the bottom of Blackhill, but haven't seen it myself..

These aren't necessarily jeep track, but more short single tracks aimed at kids, so very tiny obstacles..  Very much like what you will find at Chris Nixon.

Go to Oak Valley.

Beautiful scenery, choice of trails that you can step up if you feel that the kids are handling it.  The trails are nice and smooth too which is great for newbies.

Go check out Bloemendal.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Bloemendal is great as it has different options.  There is a track for little kids by the restaurant which only kids can ride.  Has everything from push bikes to 26 inch on it and is shaded so great for all year round.

Then there is a loop around the dam which is singletrack, but almost completely flat and smooth.

After that, there is B-Spot which the kids love.  Its got bumps, berms, bridges etc without too much climbing,  Great place for them to safely learn skills.

You can then progress to some of the other tracks which involve a bit more climbing.

Bit of a trip for you, but Koeberg is also great for kids.  They get to ride next to springboks, zebra etc.  Can choose a loop/distance based on their fitness.

Koeberg is very kiddie and family friendly. You can even have a beach stop and picnic. A good winters day there is always beautiful. Just avoid it if the southeaster is howling in summer.
