tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 100km to go. The break now has 19 riders and 2:10 on the peloton.
tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 "According to reports in Spain, Nairo Quintana has been ill in the last few days but his team claim he is now fine. We will see if that is true later in the stage."
tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 User Actions Following Graham Watson@grahamwatson10 Frank Schleck carries his personal ice-cubes during the hotter Vuelta stages...
tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) helped design today's stage. "There won't be any surprise. It's a stage for riders like Froome, Quintana, Alejandro, Aru, Landa or myself. It's one of the hardest stages ever held. Perhaps the hardest since the Giro stage in the snow in 2011," he said. "Every climb has something special and what makes it harder is that is so short. There's no flat section. And we'll spend half of the stage at more than 1,700 metres. It's hard but the riders who love this kind of effort will enjoy themselves."
tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 "Purito is crazy. The stage should have been held over two days. Seriously I think it suits riders like me, Purito or Nairo. We're all looking forward to this stage." Esteban Chaves (Orica-Greenedge)
tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Mikel Landa (Astana) is one of the riders in the break. Will any of them be able to stay away until the finish? The gap is up to 3:00 now.
tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 "It is on paper one of the hardest stages I've ever seen. It's exciting. Then as you know well, all depends on how the riders will race. Esteban feels good, it's another test for him but it's a test for all the top riders and he is one of them. Cameron (Meyer) is normally the rider who is meant to stay with him as long as possible but there will be a time when Esteban will find himself on his own. But so will the others." Neil Stephens (Orica GreenEdge team director)
tombeej Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 "The break has opened a gap of 4:30 but nobody is really keen to work to drag the break along."
ScottCM Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 With Imanol Erviti (Movistar) making his move off the front one can only suspect that Quintana is going to try and slingshot across before the last climb of the day
Velouria Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 For those looking for an online stream: http://irumble.com/vuelta/ *WARNING* - The American commentary is so bad they will have you longing for the Phil and Paul show. It's almost better to watch with the sound off.
Gen Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 In the meantime I got home just in tine to see Froome go off the back.. I hear he fell .. and is now popping some pills at the medical car. Anyone see how he fell?.. I reckon he may just abandon And then I'll be down to 6 riders. . Aye.. that's what I get for putting him in my team[emoji24]
HappyMartin Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Heard he fell in the neutral zone but I didn't see it
Gen Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Heard he fell in the neutral zone but I didn't see it[emoji33] in the neutral zone.. genade. So I take it the fall isn't the main reason for him battling then.
Oxter Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Looks like our maincheese is holding on in the main peleton
