Like him or not, we have to recognise that part of the reason why he's won 2 x TDF's is because somewhere inside his spindly frame lies a true mongrel. Yesterday the guy rode arguably the hardest stage ever dished up in a grand tour with a broken ankle from the start. And only lost a few minutes at the end. He could have said F~~ it at any time during those long hours and climbed into the car. But he didn't. Chapeau to the 'Dawg.And I think they said he had a busted up shoulder also....He is as hard as they come, you only have to look at how he almost always has a great day after a bad day. I think he just refuses to accept that someone was stronger so he goes out the next day to make sure they know it was just a bad moment. Or the way he counters when everybody thinks he cracked...he's probably dying inside but again he has to show them he is stronger.What goes on in the heads of these guys are what make them GREAT, they all pretty close fitness wise.
Jay_B Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Freak that would have been extremely painful... i shattered my navicular into 3 pieces almost 3 years ago and while laying in emergency i got two different injections for pain, the second was morphine and that barely helped. He should be okay with a moon boot for a few weeks depending on the severity of the fracture.

nochain Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Anybody knows what is going on with Van Zyl???It is really out of character for him to not go into a break.I Pictured him driving the breakaway's every second day and he is not even trying?Maybe they told him to sit still and enjoy he's first grand tour and just make sure he makes it to the finish..it must be killing him not to go on attack.Lets hope they unleash him at the right moment and he wins us a stage.
