Ha ha.. Now a ruined tubby?

25mm clinchers for the win!!!

- Yes, I rode it "pap' just to get away from the 10 kids around me yelling : Chocolate /    Sweetie!

- Expect my tubbie wheelset (racing Zeros) to be in the classifieds tomorrow.

I didn't ride also wondering if I must sell my zipp 303 tubbies.

How often do you get a puncture?

Almost never and I used them for training too.

Just dont want to have my race end like that again, ever. (Unless I carry an extra tubbie?)

The whole VA lead bunch decided "screw this" and cut through the road works.

Could not believe they quoted a new safer route and the took us through there. We were wondering for a while if it was the correct route.

I dropped from the bunch and rode solo in that section with the kids.

One of the kids standing alone on the side of the rode picked up a stone/something hard and threw it at me as I got closer. Hit my bikes top tube then my torso. Told him in his own language what I thought of his actions but left it at that. Luckily no damage to the bike.

This could have been a nasty incident if the kid was older and was able to throw a bigger stone. If it hits you on the rite spot it's game over. I'm all for bringing the race to the people but precautions have to be made.

those kids freak me out, two years ago they crowded me and helped themselves into my pockets... i had to swipe a few smacks then make a getaway ... i was cramping and got dropped, so one man is an easy kill to a few vultures  ( Life can get dangerous in no time GRRRR)

My first cycle race....... was fun listening to all the joking at start braking those nervous down.

There were some scary parts where the cars and trucks passed so close i wished i had a mountain bike to go off the tar.

There were some very friendly cyclist during the race wich was awesome and then as usual some rude once's as well "gooing" their comments.

Another thing I did notice and maybe some one can answer me was What is the Hotspot (before attacking keep in mind I'm new to cycling and this was my first race)

I finished and my first goal achieved.

Hotspot:  Race within the race.  First over the line gets a prize.

Well done on finishing your first race.

New 'safer route' not that safe! Lots of traffic, bumps and the gravel section was a joke!

Not a lot of thought and effort went into the hospitality area by the organisers either!

We bought food and an adult beverage and we had to sit at unshaded tables in the 28 degree heat! Not a table umbrella to be seen! In the past we used to meet after the race and enjoy a few refreshments before the long trek home! This year we packed up and left after one beer!

Would we do the race again, the answer to that question by all our crowd, a resounding naaah!

Have to say i am reading a whole lot of negativity.. about the race, got stopped by a train, road some gravel all in all except for the wind and the edgy people in the bunch touching the brakes ( to be expected first race up )  it was fun..., recall very few cars... on the route.. pretty safe..  provided you stay your side of the white line :)

Reading the last couple of posts reconfirms my 2012 decision to scratch Lost City off my race calender. It was a dodgy race then, and it appears there's been no improvement.
